Fitting A Glass Panel
As per our Terms and conditions, all of our products are supplied on the understanding that they will be installed by a professionally trained and competent installer. As such they are not packaged with instruction manuals. Please DO NOT attempt installation unless you are conversant and experienced.
So first things first, you’ll need to measure your aperture size. Measure inside the rebate where the glass will fir as per the image below. This is know as the ‘tight size’. DO NOT order glass to this size as chances are it will not fit.
When ordering from your glass merchant be sure to let them know that you’ll need to allow a 7mm (0.3") clearance on the width and height. This is to ensure that you have room to manoeuvre the glazing in the aperture. If you have bought glazing from us then we will have already allowed approx. 7mm (0.3") clearance.
Now that you’ve got your glass ordered, if you haven’t already, you’ll need to get that professional hired to make sure your glass is fitted correctly. Unless, that is, you’ve got a lot of experience and are doing it yourself.
When installing the glazing unit, use a suitable glazing sealant around the perimeter in accordance with the glass suppliers instructions. For our double glazed units we would recommend a suitable glazing silicone that is Double Glazing Unit safe.
N.B. When having the glass installed, it should be fitted in the centre of the aperture, with an equal amount of spacer bar shown on each edge. Use plastic glazing packers to achieve this but your professional should know this already.
